GUEST FEEDBACK
ExcellentBased on 28 reviewsSimon D2024-01-21A truly memorable experience We stayed at the Safari Camp for 2 nights as part of a Safari tour. When you do not book your own accommodation you're always a little uncertain, but let me tell you this place is unbelievable. We arrived and were in awe at how mesmerising the place is. The tents you stay in are better than many hotels and have all the of amenities you require. The staff are exceptional, they are the most welcoming and helpful you could ask for. Ivy our waitress for the 2 nights was fantastic, she was attentive, gracious and very polite, along with the Chef always greeted us after each of our meals to ensure everything was in order and to our liking. Knowing all of the fruit and veg is picked freshly from their garden made it even more special. I could not recommend this place enough, beautiful views, before you enter the Safari Camp there are Zebra, Antelope, Giraffe all roaming around along with amazing wildlife viewing across the river.Kemi2024-01-15Wonderful Safari Camp My husband & I spent 3 nights at Mtito Safari Camp. It was such a wonderful place. It was such a beautiful setting, and our tent was lovely. In fact, the bathroom was just like normal, including shower temperature & pressure. And what great food! Chef Evans took such good care of us with delicious meals... from their own farm! Our famr tour was a definite highlight of our stay. In general, the staff were incredibly attentive and kind. Being about 20 mins from the Maasa Mara gate means that our area was nice & quiet. Plus, we saw giraffe almost every night on our way back to the camp! Highly recommend.Peggy Prosser2023-11-24A safari camp with remoteness and spectacle If you're looking for a safari camp with remoteness and spectacle, Mtito Safari Camp is the place to be. The camp has beautiful balanites trees and a lovely riverbank with big rocks, green trees, bushes, and tall grass. By the river, there’s a mess tent with an open-air terrace and a lounge with a bar. On the terrace, you can watch the animals come and go and birds fly among the trees. It was nice! The staff there were nice and friendly, greeting us every morning and wishing us a good night. The guards kept us safe every day and at night watching out for animals that could break into our camp. We hugged each other on our last day. We slept inside a classic kind of safari tent made of canvas. It had a front porch that looked out to the river. You can watch for wildlife on your porch, too. This was cool! The camp is eco-friendly with solar energy for lights and hot water showers, and composting toilets that feed the lawn and trees at the camp. Eco-activists will appreciate this campsite. We did too. Our meals were fresh and tasty. They were harvested from an organic garden at the camp. The garden is pretty big. There’s a gardener who tends the crops daily with organic matter. He gave us a tour of the garden. It was very interesting. Not to mention there’s a swimming pool right in the middle of the camp with poolside chairs and tables. It was a perfect place to cool off on a hot afternoon or relax with a book when on break from a safari game drive. I didn't find any shortcomings other than the campsite being new and just opened. Perhaps the lounge could have a set of furniture. I expect that it will be furnished when I come back in 2024 with a group. I look to be back there.elske732023-10-24Perfect!! We spent 2 nights here during our safari. The tents are very spacious, hot water and electricity are available 24/7. The bed is super comfortable, the staff really accommodating, and the food, there is a 4-course menu at lunch and dinner, was extremely delicious! And there was even a turn down service! When it gets dark, a ranger accompanies you to your tent/reception or restaurant. The boss will cook you whatever you want, most of the vegetables are grown in their own garden and processed fresh. The location right on the river is super beautiful, in the late afternoon/evening you can watch the hippos bathingMelania P2023-10-24Being one with nature Mtito was a pleasant surprise, very different from the busy resorts we had been to before during our trip in Kenya. We were lucky to be the only ones in the camp at the time so it felt really peaceful. Tent was spacious and comfortable enough for us as a family of three with a toddler. Food was delicious, with particular attention given to our needs. Even the packed lunch we got for our day out at Maasai National Reserve was wholesome. What we really loved is the proximity to the river and our three year old loved looking out for the hippo everymorning. Seeing the footprints over the path in the morning was definitely a highlight.Dalia S2023-09-29Outstanding and Truly Eco-friendly Safari Camp We're a family of five (couple and 3 kids, who stayed at Mtito for 3 days during our Kenyan safari. The camp is located a short drive from one of the Maasai Mara Reserve gates. It was a useful and convenient base for visiting the park during our stay. The camp, a brainchild of its proficient owner and manager Peter, opened this year (2023), and is a unique place. It is truly environmental, not in the usual way of places adding "eco" to their name, but being purposely built to be one (as much as possible) with nature. Everything is well thought out: a vegetable garden, tents that blend in with the surrounding, efficient waste water management, and no artificial gardening, for example. For us it was a very important aspect of our stay: not much point to come and see nature while staying in a place that assists in its destruction. The camp is serene and a calming place to be at. It has ten spacious tents, all strewn along the local creek. We had a double tent for the family, thoughtfully decorated, and most convenient. We had a porch where we sat and were able to see giraffes, baboons, and hyenas and impala roam on the other side of the creek. There is a small swimming pool, officially for swimming (naturally) but visited at times by thirsty zebra. At the edge of the camp lies the restaurant, also by the creek, with its resident hippo basking. The food was amazing: it's a top end restaurant, wholly unexpected in such a location. The place is run by a chef with eager staff, each course and each meal a delight. It was a perfect safari camp to stay at, it significantly enhanced our safari experience, and we are sure to be back.Dominic B2023-08-26Amazing This was an amazing place to stay. The food was so delicious and fresh. The turn down service was amazing and the staff were all exceptional. I wish we could have stay longer. We walked the the garden and watched them pick fresh vegetables for dinner.Astrid G2023-08-24An Ultimate Camping Experience! Our tour group of 6 had the good fortune of camping at Mtito Safari Camp. The location is ideal, close to game drives in the Maasai Mara Reserve. Where we ate our sumptuous meals are right front of a river where we could spot some wildlife. Farm to table meals with vegs and fruits fresh right from the gardens. Events on the site were tops--including a sundowner where we gathered on a hillside to watch the sunset with wine, munches and all. Guards were with us at all times for protection. Wonderful tents with great amenities. Perfect place for our chill outs. We will be back!mathewquartet2023-08-19Good place for a short stay This is a reasonably new establishment and so there's a lot of improvement going to happen in the next few months. As of now, tents are far away from each other. So there's a lot of walk to the lobby and to the restaurant etc. Choice for breakfast, lunch and dinner is limited because number of guests are still low to offer buffet service. But staff are extremely courteous, helpful and friendly etc. There's scope for a lot of improvement in the near futureSandib32023-08-13A Perfect Match for Us Mtito was absolutely the perfect spot for us. We loved its simple beauty and comfort - nothing showy or pretentious, just unassuming class tucked naturally into the stunning environment. It’s smaller scale than some camps allowed for delightful personalized service. Joy and Redempta at the office and our server Jamlick made our stay absolutely enchanting. After touring the lovely organic garden, we were sweetly surprised to find the vegetables we’d said were favorites showcased in that evening’s dinner. Our tent was cozy and clean. It was very difficult to leave this beautiful camp and its staff. If you like a cozy intimate setting, this is the place. I recommend it with all my heart. ❤️
